  • Brazil – always present at world cup events
With Brazil, the Rheinisch-Bergisch district and Bergisch Gladbach have hit the jackpot. The incumbent football world champions will be striking camp between the 18th and 29th June in the Lerbach castle hotel (Schlosshotel Lerbach) in Bergisch Gladbach. The chief town of the district may now also call itself the "FIFA World Cup quarters".

During the preliminary round, the Selecao did indeed choose the Hessian Königsstein as its base, but for the decisive phase of the title bouts, the team will be moving into the Bergisch region. The world stars from Brazil already resided last year in Lerbach during the Confederation Cup and decided following this test run that the fairytale palace in the Bergisch region should provide the decisive kick on the way to defending the title. After all, it was a triumph already in the year 2005 during the Confederation Cup dress rehearsal. The Belkaw Arena on the Paffrather Straße serves as training quarters for the Brazilians, where otherwise the kickers of the SSG 09 Bergisch Gladbach in the football fifth division work rather than celebrate.

The Selecao is the favourite for the World Cup title. It comes as no surprise; junior stars are taking to the field en masse with Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, Kaka, Adriano and the Federal League kickers Lucio, Juan and Roque. Since 1994, there has no longer been any World Cup Finals without Brazil.

Furthermore, as a single nation, the kickers from the Sugar Loaf have been at the start at each World Cup tournament up to now.

At any rate, defence of the title cannot fail to be a success in terms of the accommodation and pleasures of the table. The Lerbach castle hotel serves as the perfect setting in order to wind down after the stressful matches and 3-star chef Dieter Müllerhas already come up with some ideas for hungry moments between meals for his top-class guests.
